Home is Where the Heart is

Today's card is made for the challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ... "Challenge: Use an image in your card/project of something that is "built" using a set of plans ... a house, church, school, automobiles, even a bird house...anything that would be built according to a set of plans.

The Bible says the wise man builds his house upon a rock.  I believe a house built with God (as our rock) has the best foundation. It doesn't guarantee a trouble-free life but it provides us with hope, and an assurance that God walks with us. Perhaps the building process starts with us, today...

A Birthday Card

I was eager to use my new Donna Downey stamps by Unity.  Recently I bought 3 sets of her stamps, they are all so lovely.  For this card, I used the stamps from "The Artist In You" set.  The sentiment was a Hero Arts clear stamp.  I used Memento Bamboo Leaves for the focal image, and sponged some Memento Summer Sky and Rich Cocoa around the edges.

Have a great week!

A Smile...

I love to read about Mother Teresa and the work she has done in India.  A simple lady yet her life has touched and inspired many. When I saw this sentiment in the Unity June 2010 store kit, I had to purchase the kit - the quote was from Mother Teresa "A smile is the beginning of peace". How true. Mother Teresa also said "Everytime you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing".

I hope you find the quotes meaningful and inspiring.  Smile at someone today...

Flowers

This was a card I made last week, before I left for work.  I love flowers and I take way too many photos of them...I have photos of flowers in every place or country I have travelled to.  Flowers have a way to instantly brighten up a person's day.

Stamps : Unity's KOM June 2010
Inks : Versafine Onyx Black, Distress Inks Broken China & Worn Lipstick, Versamagic Cloud White

Unity Addicts Challenge

I'm so glad Unity has exciting challenges at Splitcoaststampes.  This week's challenge was to make a card with 2 flower, 2 buttons and a bow.  Here's my card :

Really simple, as I'm away from home and have limited supplies with me.  However, I got to use my new MS Border Punch Modern Garland, Fiskars' new border punch and my new Unity stamps!  The flower stamps & the sentiment stamp are from Butterfly Garden (Samantha Walker) and the bracket stamp is from the June 2010 Store Kit, Life Becoming.  Inks used : Memento Tuxedo Black & Bamboo Leaves.  Patterned papers: Cosmo Cricket Nutmeg.

Friday...YAY!!!

So glad Friday is here again... As you can see this whole week I've been breaking out my Unity June KOM.  When I first saw the June KOM, I wasn't sure I would like every stamp, but I totally changed my mind when I received the set!!  Every stamp is so sweet.

Here's one I made yesterday...

It's a really simple card.  I did the scalloped borders with a Martha Stewart punch, stamped the owls on a smooth white cardstock & cut & embossed it using Spellbinders Labels One.  The owls were coloured with colour pencils and sponged with Distress Inks Broken China (top half) and Shabby Shutters (bottom half).  The sentiment "True Friend" was stamped directly onto the card front and coloured with a light blue colour pencil.

I will try to post a few more cards before next week, as the next 3 months, I have to travel for work overseas...  Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!!
